Well done to the St Pats Hurling team 2 who kicked off a great start to the 2016 season. They beat Kilcock Hurling Club by a big score in the Division 4 League to win 4-17 to 0-04. This was a comfortable victory and one that keeps us in line for qualification to the play-off stages. The three recent challenge games put us in a good place going into this match. As the result shows it was an excellent opportunity to get much needed shooting practice in. The time afforded to us allowed us to initiate our pre-rehearsed game plan. Best on the night were a solid Eoghan O'Mahoney in goal while in defence Neil O'Callaghan, Peter Dickenson and Andy (Muds) O'Brien shone. Terry Healy had an excellent 60 minutes and chipped in on the scoring board while in attack young Christy Moorehouse was the standout performer. He finished the game with a tally of 1-04. Jim O'Brien's free-taking was hugely consistent all night. John O'Brien worked tremendously hard and finished with a goal and two points to his credit. The next round for this team is Saturday, 5 March against Louth champions, Naomh Moninne, which is provisionally fixed for 2pm in Newcastle.
